The Sandra Gering Gallery in New York has proposed an exhibit of 30 select
images from WAKING LIFE which will be on display from January 17 Ð February
15.

Nov 8th Waking Life Group Show @ Quixote Studios

The New York and Austin Waking life screenings both went really well.
It feels really good to be back in Austin right now. I'm probably going
to look for some work and someone who needs a roomate and stay here for
a while.
Another Waking Life artist has a website up, visit Katyoconnor.com.
A company called Puzzle Design is going to put on a gallery show of waking
life artists paintings on November 8th in LA. I'm going to have three
paintings in it and a lot of digital stuff. I'll post the where and when
as I find out more.

First the union strikes and now all this mess... now is not a good time
for making movies. Up next is the New York Film Festival, then back to
Austin on the 14th.
I'm still working on my sculpy doll.. I haven't got glass eyes yet, but
after that I'll be able to cook at least the face. The hands are the hardest
part so far.

Returned in a van from Toronto to New York. The last few days of the festival
were spent stewing in vodka and television and pacing in circles. Stinking
clouds are rising off the island of Manhattan. I don't need to tell anyone
how horrible this is.
I am not reassured by anyone's plastic american flags.

EEK! Massive oversight on my part, go check out figures

life, it aired on PBS. You can watch it here in glorious quicktime.

Wandering New York, couch surfing and getting accustomed to the city.
I have a sort of random job assisting a man installing art in office buildings,
I get to play with power tools. I've only been on one audition since I've
been here. Had a great week hanging out with Speed Levitch and his friend
Val. Lots of places to crash. I really like everything about the city
except how expensive everything is. The Waking Life trailer is out, you
can view it at Apple.com/quicktime
I saw some prototypes of the new website for the film that Fox is working
on and they look pretty cool.
Hope the poster isn't awful. I'm going to Toronto on the 9th for the Toronto
Film Festival and then we will next play at the New York Film Festival.
I'm hoping I will get to finally meet David Lynch at the latter. I'm working
on a doll in polymer clay that is a mixture of some amazing dolls I've
seen online by Japanese artists, namely Katan Amano, and a little of my
own aesthetic (I'm planning on giving this one animal eyes from a taxidermists
catalog, maybe a deer). Also I'm thinking of filling it with sensory equipment
and a voicebox, making it a telepresence avatar that transmits to a remote
computer or even a java client online. I'll post some pictures as I play
with it/her. The face is ready to cook now, but I'm waiting to find the
right eyes. I'm also really wanting to learn to play the flute for some
fucked-up reason but I haven't found a cheap enough flute yet.
The hotline server and webcam will probably be down for quite a while.
Apologies to those with portals that bear my ugly mug.
8/1/01 7/26/0 7/22/0 7/19/01 Last night someone poured a drink on my head. Tonight I went and saw
Ghost World. It's GREAT. I want to give birth to Thora Birch's children
through some sort of biomedical miracle. On the way home a bus had crashed
into a building and men were fighting around it. It's probably the beginning
of the end of the world. 7/15/01

6/22/01 6/19/01 Fun fact: the kid in Sylvester Stallone's arm-wrestling-and-child-custody-trucking-drama
"Over the Top" dubbed over my cursewords in the TV version of
Dazed and Confused. Of course, this was told to me by the person who claimed
to be that kid, at a bar. I believed him pretty much just based on what
he was wearing and the fact that he bought me a beer... Come to think
of it, did I even swear at all in Dazed? Seems like the worst thing I
said was "piss-ant".
6/18/01 I've also added a link to my hotline server, which gives access to my
mp3 collection. Guest Download is currently on but the server is not listed
on any trackers. Tomorrow I'll start job-hunting. I'm not lookng forward to it. I have
to find a job that allows me to fuck-off and keep loose hours. Some days
I need totally take off for auditions. It's hard to find a job like that...
The video effects job would have been perfect if they had actually paid
me a decent amount and if the boss hadn't been such a dipshit. Note to
all post-production people: Avoid working in anything that even smells
like the adult film industry. All the projects are messes, people throw
responsibility around like a hot potato, and one day they might decide
not to pay you and there's little you can do about it.
6/16/01 6/6/01 Visit the website for Radio
Free Steve A fun & goofy indie flick that features my very dear friends
Jessy Schwartz, Amy Raymond and Nathan Zellner. 6/5/01 (!) Check out my friend Divya Srinivasan's
video Everything Hits
at Once. She was one of the animators on waking life (she did the
image of me on the main page)and she made this video in a similar style. 6/3/01 This isn't breaking news, but Plastic Utopia was very recently made available
on video. Check out the new site. 5/25/01 Happy Birthday Ramya! 5/20/01 Site update, backgrounds added, most pages ammended. Houseplant declared
dead. Happy belated birthday to Kristen Schilt! There is a new issue of POI: Points
of Interest up,
I'm moving to New York City. I probably won't post any taudry news of my
life for a little while. The few things I've got (computer, books) are going
in a couple of boxes where they will collect dust 'till I land again. LA
is simply no place for a person who can't drive, not to mention no place
for a person who does not have that black charcoal stuff from the end of
Time Bandits for a soul. Kapow, a very special season finale of Doogie Hauser
MD. Adios, fuck-o's. I hope your city falls into the ocean, suddenly causing
a massive revolution in world media, a new age of creativity, honesty and
orginality. A million flowers bloom.
New IP address: 216.127.169.14 This should fix the mollasses slow connections
I've been getting on the DSL. Time to finish your uploads!
sputnik7.com is currently playing
Snack and Drink in it's film section. Snack and Drink is an animated short
by Bob Sabiston and Tommy Pallotta (Waking Life). This is a sort of proto-ancestor
to the Waking Life animation.
Added a guestbook to
the main page.

I dream about going home but I know that I can't.
I wrote two new stories tonight, Solarcon-6
and Party Favors.
As of right now, I'm very pleased with them. I've successfully alleviated
some of the boredom of trudging through my first book. I would deeply
appreciate it if you gave them a gander.
sad, tired, broke, sick to my stomach.
Just went and saw the Lilys at Spaceland. It was Orgasmic. They played
some of my favorite older songs that I never thought they would have played.
It was pretty sloppy but the songs are so powerful I was dancing and singing
and generally making a total fool of myself which is unusual for me to
do at shows. The coolest part of it was the opening band though, an acid-dub
combo called Future
Pigeon, they were just... well christ, they were basically Marijuana:
The Band. If these guys put anything out, fucking buy it. The IFC thing
came on, I didn't see it but some people wrote me to say that they had...
Anyway, I drank a lot, I'm going to sleep. Our video production company
is going to be called 'Design Flaw'.
Feeling really positive that something good is going to happen soon and
I'm going to be able to put my skills to use and stop wasting my time
barking up the wrong trees. I feel completely charged and crackling with
potential energy and I desperately need something to release it on. Concieving
of a few new shorts, mainly stop motion. Hopefully next week I can get
my tapes back from Austin and digitize them for the site.
Changed IRC channel to #blutorge because I forgot to register the last channel.
Added some pictures. Weeds that had infested my dead houseplant are now
dead themselves.
If my calculations are correct, Ghost
World will open (here at least) on July 20th. I've been a little behind
on what's happening since my ex-fucking landlord committed 400 dollars
worth of check fraud against me!
Pencils are for jamming into people's eye sockets.
Do you ever feel like the sole victim of an insidious global conspiracy?
No?
Well, fuck you then.

My Escape from hollywood thing plays on sunday july 8th at 8:00pm
My money has run out again and I'll have to find a job this week.
Empty fridge, sleeping telephone.

Did a short spot on IFC's Escape From Hollywood

Just gave an embarrassingly bad interview to Premier, had to reveal that
the interviewer woke me up at 4:00pm and try to come up with an explaination.
'I have emotional problems that cause me to lapse into deep comas' wouldn't
have looked good on paper.
I stammered my way through the interview with a groggy head, trying to summarize
"Waking Life" which isn't an easy thing to do, kids.
It looks like I may be working on a large scale collaborative video art
project. More news as it develops.
Grass and weeds are now growing in the pot of my dead houseplant. I find
it strangely poetic and I am watering them.
Thanks to Danielle Al and Carol for helping me fix my main page mouseover
script that mysteriously decided to stop working.
Added chat page, new storyand a few various odds and ends and links
I suggest you get there as fast as you can.

I'm told that things will be "heating up" in the next few weeks. I'm not sure how to feel about that. Auditions are an uncomfortable humiliating experience. Most of the time they are for worthless crap movies anyway. LA is stealing my soul at an alarming rate. I'd feel silly if I left at this point though.
DSL should be on this friday or monday depending on if I can waylay
the damn UPS guy and actually get a package for once. I'm terribly broke after
this purchase, but I just can't get along without it. I'll probably have to
find a normal job soon, but I'm holding out as long as possible. The end of
this damn book is in sight... I'm thinking of calling it 'the islands' or
'ocean of hungry ghosts' but neither sits too well with me. Oh, and I'm not
becoming a pill head, if you're wondering about the valium ad. That would
require money which is something I don't have. I just thought it was cute.

RECONNECTING THE PAST
Show only runs through April 30th!
(4/3/01) I'm doing a poor job keeping track of reviews, mostly because whenever I link the fuckers they're gone a week later. See the "Artists of Waking Life" websites news section for an example. The best bet is to check the
Waking Life and Frontier
websites for news as they happen. I'm suffering with a rusty old 14.4 modem
in a frankensteined old powerbook Duo. When my desktop machine gets shipped
to me and I can afford DSL I'll be able to keep up. I'll also probably actually
be on instant messenger once in awhile again. UNREAL WORLD

Here's a
bunch of stills from Waking Life.
(4/1/01) Welcome to the new site, the land of the dead,
wileywiggins.com (3/10/01) SXSW, Frontier Played last night and again on
Sunday at midnight at the Bad Dog Comedy Club. There will be a third showing
on the 16th at the Alamo Draft house. There is a special engagement showing
of Waking Life at the Paramount, also
on Sunday (3/11) at 12:30. It's open to cast/crew and SXSW badge holders who
have gotten a ticket through some arcane process of which I have no knowledge.
Also today I spoke on a panel called "Acting in independent movies" in which
I offered no useful information on said subject but instead spent most of
the panel asking the other more worldy panelists questions like, "How do I
keep from wetting my pants at auditions?" (1/23/01) Roger Ebert's Sundance

(1/7/01)Waking Life will premier at the Sundance film festival
on January 23
It will probably develop slowly, but with a little elbow grease it will develop
into something even more immense and useless than my site at fringeware.com.
