Roger Ebert, from www.suntimes.com: "The new animation category got off on the wrong foot by including "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" among its three nominees, instead of Richard Linklater's ground-breaking "Waking Life," which was not only a better film but introduced a revolutionary new low-cost technique for bringing animation into the world of independent film. Perhaps old-line Hollywood pros resent that upstarts from Austin, Texas, could use desktop Macintoshes to compete with multimillion-dollar CGI workstations."

"The judging panel for animated features consists of both animators and Academy
members, but animators who work directly on an entered film should and will remain objective
during the voting
process. "
"We can't ensure (that people won't give their competitors a low vote)," (Jon
Bloom, chairman of the short and feature animation film categories for the
Academy.) said. "But we believe that
people who are voting place values high on their list. No matter what, we think
the best three pictures will
get through."

Big site redesign within the month, I think. Also We'll probably put up
the real Design-Flaw site now that
we actually have some work.

The Waking Life show at the Sandra
Gering gallery is currently underway.
Februrary thru March I will be in Los Angeles to film for two shorts.
We find out February 12th if Waking Life has been nominated for the new
Best Animation Oscar. If indeed it has, I will appear in an animated segment
witch will air during the awards.
I'm currently finishing a web page for artist Steve
Brudniak.
